Words with friends is a scrabble type game that you can play across platforms. I have a game going now on my iPad and my friend is playing on her Android phone. There is a free and a paid version. I am using the free version.

overkill is a dece game. its free which is nice and as a result there are some issues of arrempting to milk, but its good fun. it's effectively a shooting gallery.the incident is pretty awesome on the ipad too.and sword and swordery EB is a fun experience. I've been playing it a little bit at a time with the gf (She doesnt like hand-eye-coordination bits of games, like fighting but loves the exploration, adventure aspects)

While I don't have an iPad myself, several of my coworkers do and they like:
- Infinity Blade
- Plants vs. Zombies
- Dead Space (it's a new game and not a port)
- Puzzle Quest 2
- Smurf Village (purely for counting the ratio of male smurfs to Smurfette between villages)
- Peggle

Its great because its an iphone game, not a fart app, not a console/ds/psp port but an iphone game
you can really tell its made for the system.

Yeah, I'm impressed with most of what I've seen with iOS games. They seem to get a good bit of free "DLC," and it's only the encouraged in-game microtransactions that urk me, but at least they're optional.

In some of the games the in-game-microtransactions are more annoying than others. I like the games with a free (ad supported) variant, giving the consumer choice. I hate paying $60 for games AND having ads in them. Its the worst of both worlds. on iOS I can pay $5 for a game and have zero ads. or pay zero for a game and have a couple non-intrusive ones.Post edited by Rajio at 2011-03-29 10:45:24

@Rajio Gameloft has a Starcraft 2 clone out now. I'm not sure how good it is or what it is called but it has a icon that looks like the Starcraft 2 guy on the cover.
I'm kinda interested as to how a good strategy game would play on the iPad now. I guess I will try when I go back to futureshop.

"Star Wars: Hoth" is a decent tower defense game based off Empire's Hoth battle.
"Modern Combat 2" is supposed to be the best FPS for iphone, but its impossible to control!!!

Zuma on the ipad is pretty good. it works really really well for touchscreen tablets.
