iPad/iPhone game recommendations
  • hey, what are some of your favorite games for iOS? ... aside from angry birds.

I may get an ipad soon if i can snag one on Friday. Mostly just for reading and pictures on the go, but a few games would be good too i guess.

  • Words with friends is a scrabble type game that you can play across platforms. I have a game going now on my iPad and my friend is playing on her Android phone. There is a free and a paid version. I am using the free version.
  • crossplatform and free? now you're talking my language.
  • Well, Raj, just so you know, Mojang has announced they are working on Minecraft for Android and iOS.
  • Gun Bros. It is a free twin stick shooter with lots of features including cross platform
  • Street Fighter IV.
  • Only game I have on my iphone is Sudoku.
  • overkill is a dece game. its free which is nice and as a result there are some issues of arrempting to milk, but its  good fun. it's effectively a shooting gallery.

the incident is pretty awesome on the ipad too.

and sword and swordery EB is a fun experience. I've been playing it a little bit at a time with the gf (She doesnt like hand-eye-coordination bits of games, like fighting but loves the exploration, adventure aspects)

  • game dev story
  • If you get Overkill for your ipad, add my code!

639F6539 and we both get bonus OM
  • While I don't have an iPad myself, several of my coworkers do and they like:

    - Infinity Blade
    - Plants vs. Zombies
    - Dead Space (it's a new game and not a port)
    - Puzzle Quest 2
    - Smurf Village (purely for counting the ratio of male smurfs to Smurfette between villages)
    - Peggle

As I understand it, it's the platform's best selling game.

you can really tell its made for the system.
It gets free TF2 Style updates too

  • ORLY? I didn't know about the updates. maybe ill consider it.

Yeah, I'm impressed with most of what I've seen with iOS games.  They seem to get a good bit of free "DLC," and it's only the encouraged in-game microtransactions that urk me, but at least they're optional.
  • In some of the games the in-game-microtransactions are more annoying than others. I like the games with a free (ad supported) variant, giving the consumer choice. I hate paying $60 for games AND having ads in them. Its the worst of both worlds.  on iOS I can pay $5 for a game and have zero ads. or pay zero for a game and have a couple non-intrusive ones.

  • Pix'n Love Rush is awesome on PSN Minis. I'm sure it's just as awesome on iOS.
  • oh i found that autodesk has a game out on ipad, for free, thats very similar to the incredible machine (one of my favorite games ever)

  • Raj, you will love this then.

    http://fantasticcontraption.com/ Also available for iOS
  • my free option is better :P

why is there no great ipad strategy game yet? the thing is made for it!
  • @Rajio Gameloft has a Starcraft 2 clone out now. I'm not sure how good it is or what it is called but it has a icon that looks like the Starcraft 2 guy on the cover.
I'm kinda interested as to how a good strategy game would play on the iPad now. I guess I will try when I go back to futureshop.

  • Army of Darkness defense (andHD) are free right now!
  • I just paid monies for AoD.. Son of a...!
  • That one where you push the dummy off stuff and get points for brutal industries.
  • Five minutes to kill yourse.f

It's a game where you're at a desk job, it sucks. so you have 5 minutes to kill yourself and be rude to people.
  • is that a real thing?
  • it actually is. Wasn't trolling or anything.

You can staple yourself, electrocution, beat yourself, piss off other employees until they beat you and many other things.

There are quite a few versions now.  here's a bit of gameplay.

  • "Trenches" is kinda like PvZ but WW2 themed.

"Star Wars: Hoth" is a decent tower defense game based off Empire's Hoth battle.

"Modern  Combat 2" is supposed to be the best FPS for iphone, but its impossible to control!!!

I have it for my Iphone 4.  Its official name is "Star Wars: Battle for Hoth" and is developed ny THQ Wireless.  Its not bad, but Plants vs Zombies is 100 times better.
  • I'm calling it now. Angry Birds Space: GOTY
