Xbox Community Xperts - Technical Support Discussions on Delay of Game

In a few weeks, we will be adding a user-to-user connecting chat application to Xbox.com. It’s called Xbox Community Xperts, and it helps people with Xbox-related questions to find people with answers to those question in real-time.

Effectively its just a chat thing on the site to matchmake people who have questions with those who are helpful and have answers. Its starting out it's US testing. One imagines it will roll out for other regions too.

Anyhow, with that site struggling to maintain community (at least for the Canadians), this may at least help ensure that the newbies or those with legitimate questions needing help are able to avoid the trolling and actually get the help they need. About time, if you ask me. Should be good.

As much as I am for giving control to the community, this sounds a lot like MSFT is pushing some corporate responsibility on to their fans. I love seeing our community help people, but it's always come from the bottom up; people ask for help and we respond.

This, as an official venue for people to get help, could get crowded very fast and the few community people who are experienced enough (and English good speak enough) to be useful will quickly get burned out with no reward.

I hope MSFT sees what it's asking the community to do and offers appropriate rewards to those who help out. This will cut the cost of MSFT's Support Staff a lot if it works, the least they can do is throw some swag out.

I got an e-mail, not sure if I got in the program. There will be 5 invite codes I get for people though, WATS has spoken for one already. If you're interested and I relatively know you via Xbox, then just let me know.

Y'see, the helper part of me wants to help... The 'They took our jorbs!' part of me is kind of completely against this.

We see it often enough on Xbox.ca where people come and post saying that they've been told by Support to contact a Supervisor through the website, where we know, no such Supervisor exists.

It's not a very nice way for MS to do business. Yes, I don't mind at all helping someone, but really, someone should be getting paid to do so.

All that being said, Johnny.. I'd take one.

Look how often advice given is wrong too. thats one thing which irks me.

This thing sounds interesting - it could be done well just as a way to matchmake noobs with non-trolly experienced users but yes, it could also be just pawning off help services to the community which could get frustrating if it's executed poorly.

I'd do this. but I can't. Because I've been banned from the forums..alot. Mostly for reasons which to this day - i still don't comprehend. Speaking english on french forums. Enjoy being slaves guys. :D
