  • So this upcoming Sunday is Canada Day! I decided to post some interesting information I received from the newest Maclean's magazine about Canadians (in celebration of Canada Day). So here is some cool things to think about leading up to July 1st!

    For the first section, these points are based off the average Canadian.

    The Average Canadian,

    - Believes same sex marriage should remain legal

    - Does not think the Monarchy is outdated

    - Reads the news online

    - Has an IQ of 99

    - Reads one book per month

    - Has internet in their house but not on their phone

    - Has sex 1.26 times a week (lol...sometimes when you average something, it looks funny as a statistic)

    - Thinks the NHL should ban fighting

    - Believes the death penalty is sometimes appropriate

    - They should legalize marijuana

    - Donates $260.00 per year to charities

    - Has a mortgage and other household dept of $112,329

    - Spends 7 hours on social sites and 45.3 hours on the internet per month

    - Has received 17 years of education

    - Is a Christian

    - Contributes $2,700 to RSP (2010 stat)

    - Has a CC balance of $3,462

    - Has a median house hold income of $68,560 and pays $11,000 in income taxes


    Now let's look at some statistics based off individual provinces.

    British Columbia (BC)

    The average life expectancy is 81.7 years
    The average income is $27,460
    They spend most of their money on fresh fruits & veggies, pasta and nuts

    Alberta (Alta)


    The average life expectancy is 80.7 years
    The average income is $36,010
    They spend most of their money on restaurants, jewellery and gambling

    Saskatchewan (Sask)

    The average life expectancy is 79.6 years
    The average income is $29,510
    They spend most of their money on washers & dryers, pork, frozen meals and casinos

    Manitoba (Man)

    The average life expectancy is 79.5 years
    The average income is $28,700
    They spend most of their money on condo fees

    Newfoundland (NFLD)

    The average life expectancy is 78.9 years
    The average income is $22,500
    They spend most of their money on beef, cookies & crackers, furniture, leasing & renting vehicles and disposable diapers

    New Brunswick (N.B)

    The average life expectancy is 80.2 years
    The average income is $24,600
    They spend most of their money on electricity, home security and garden equipment

    Nova Scotia (N.S)

    The average life expectancy is 80.1 years
    The average income is $25,440
    They spend most of their money on canned vegetables

    Prince Edward Island (P.E.I)

    The average life expectancy is 80.2 years
    The average income is $21,620
    They spend most of their money on butter and milk

    Ontario (Ont)

    The average life expectancy is 81.5 years
    The average income is $29,740
    They spend most of their money on property tax, personal transportation, daycare and hair grooming

    Quebec (Que)

    The average life expectancy is 81.2 years
    The average income is $27,320
    They spend most of their money on baked goods, seafood, cheese and public transportation

  • At the moment Auto sales are very high in Alberta. Home sales are way up also. Well at least here in Calgary.

  • Manitoba doesn't waste its time spending money on frivolous things like canned vegetables and meat. We put our money to the condos. We're high class.
