Star Wars 1313
  • This already looks more refreshing and less derivative of any Star Wars stuff I've seen since Shadows of the Empire. Lately all SW stuff just tries to mimic popular setpieces from the movies for nostalgic value - how many times have we seen scenes that look like the chamber where Han was frozen in carbonite for instance? too many. We see basically one hallway here and it already looks fresh. The weapons effects look great, not cheesey, The facial animations are of course solid. Hell, even the costumes- they're not dressed like existing known star wars charachters. Star wars has gotten cheesey and recycled to me .... boring. This looks like it could be just the jolt of newnesss I'd been hoping for.

Frankly I hope no Jedi or Sith make an appearance in this game at all. Ever. and no Huts. And we never go to Tatooine.
  • Which time era does this take place in? The Original Trilogy, New Trilogy or Old Republic?

I hope it sticks to the original trilogy, I feel like the populated sectors of the Star Wars universe wasn't looked at, at all during that time. That and then we don't have to worry about lightsabers. I do think that because we are Bounty Hunters and Hutts can easily be made to be very gross and slimy, since it is generally implied they are, that we will see a Hutt.

the bit where he was dangling in the techno-tube thing was just like when luke was dangling in that techno-tube in empire. SHENANIGANS!
  • I don't have the answers you seek yet. but yes, the best thing about the original trillogy timeframe is the lack of fucking jedi/sith. Its good that they are obscure and almost mythological in that time period. I hate seeing shit tonnes of light sabres and over the top force powers going off all the time.

Oh I also like when the story isnt about the fate of the galaxy. Guess what LucasArts, raising the stakes doesn't always make it more dramatic.

I'd be fine if this whole story took place on one planet.

  • Meh star wars games are OK but nothing tops the X-wing series
  • Well I'll buy this for PC because what we just saw will take a massive hit in quality on box or ps3. The smoothness maybe but particle effects I'm skeptical if they will make their way and be smooth on the consoles. Hopefully it is built for PC then converted to function on the consoles.

Gameplay reminds me of uncharted(in space), which is never a bad thing. I like that it is bounty hunter and not yet another saber game. I really hope that if this ends up with MP there are no sabers just guns and tech tricks.

There hasn't been a good space combat game in a loooong time.
  • Tell me about it....
I did really enjoy wing commander as well.
  • One day, guys. One day they'll bring back X-wing VS tie Fighter. One day we'll get to make a trench run again. Right? RIGHT?

I'm actually surprised Wing Commander hasn't made a comeback either (not counting that retarded arcade game)

id be happy with a re-release of tie fighter alone, i LOVED that game. i actually made a big cardboard cockpit to put in from of my pc to play it in.
  • Imagine it with today's graphics, lighting, physics, multiplayer .... oh man.

    Red 1, standing by!

ex-fucking-xactly! Imagine just a remade X-Wing, Todays graphics (PC wise) AND 4 player campaign co-op.

Not to mention Xwing VS tie fighter as a multiplayer expansion . Id never play anything else.

  • What would absolutely ruin this game is if the protagonist discovered they are force sensitive. It's just the dumbest thing ever and my biggest fear for this.
  • I agree, While it was great in Dark forces, they shouldnt do that here.

  • Oh thats another series i liked Dark forces.
  • If that isn't a next generation game...fuck. I think it is, considering they did the demo on PC and didn't mention anything about which console it will launch on.

Me thinks we just got a glimpse into the future of gaming.

I would flip out if this happened. I also predict it will.

  • Looks okay but nothing special to me yet. I'll need to see far more before I can properly comment.
  • Looks pretty.
  • Just to set enlightenment on the place where the action in the vid takes place, Coruscant is a planet that consists mainly of only 1 city that covers most habitable space of the said planet. It's filled with skyscrapers that attein miles high and that also goes deep into the planet's crust.

As for the "look-alike" aspect of the environment, i do agree that it does remind me of the Chasm where Luke gets his hand cut off by Vader on Bespin's Cloud City.

You mean it wasn't in there? :O

I'm also having bad flashbacks to the Force Unleashed trailers. I fully expect this game to get to the "so big it's unreasonable and stupid" point as far as cinematic fighting and such.

I enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and thought everyone was too hard on that game. Didn't like the demo for the sequel so I never bothered with it.

apparently it is around 4 hours long lol

Roughly, yeah. I didn't really mind the first one but the second one got to be too much. Fighting a Rancor: Cliche but cool. Fighting something that just ate a rancor: Uhhhhhh..... Fighting the thing that killed that thing while the arena you are in collapses and explodes in the most drawn out and stupid way: Shark completely jumped.

Still, I'm willing to let this game surprise me.
  • I noticed that when they fire their weapons, it has an almost Star Trek: TNG phaser feel to it, rather than the usual thick "slow" Star Wars blaster shots... does this mean they're willing to break from the mold a bit? There also seemed to be a bit of similarity to the Uncharted style of gameplay, no?

I actually really enjoyed Star Wars: Republic Commando back in the day, and wished they would have kept on with FPS games in that vein.

Force Unleashed was great the sequel not so much.
  • I didn't find the trailer or the in game play trailer exciting, rather boring to be honest.

I thought it was good as well. That being said I did notice that all the Jedi Boss fights that you encounter are immune to the dash attack, which kinda slowed the combat flow for me and made me sad face. Still was my favourite part of the game though, when I heard that most of those types of boss battles were gone in TFU2 I lost interest in the game rapidly.

LOL Yeah. 2 different planets: Coruscant is a commercial/political planet (where you see the Jedi council in episode 1, 2, and 3). And Bespin is a gas mining planet (actually, Cloud City in Empire Strikes Back is a mining facility that also serves as housing station for miners).

The reason why both places look-alike is `cause Cloud City and most of Coruscant buildings were built by the same building company (which is/was owned by the republican Galactic Gov`t). Other than that the comparison between the 2 places ends there `cause Coruscant is a Earth-like planet mostly covered by a city filled with skyscrapers, and Bespin (the planet that hosts Cloud City) is a gas planet (in the like of Jupiter) inhabited by mining colonies.

I loved Star Wars: Republic Commando and always wanted a Star Wars: Imperial Commando. Sigh.
